dance break

Let’s Bop Together

I don’t have much to talk about this time, though I have quite a few posts in the drafts box.  But I want to dance.  Let’s do this.

Break Your Heart Right Back – Ariana Grande f. Childish Gambino

You should know that Class and I are big fans of Ariana.  This song taps on your 90’s and 70’s nostalgia with a catchy hook that will have you bopping.

And you can obviously Schmoney dance to it!

Da Dip – Freak Nasty

::screams Bitch and runs to the dance floor::

dadip

Candy Shop – Madonna

Class doesn’t love Madonna, but I can bop to her stuff. I love trashy innuendo, so there’s that. And obviously my sugar is raw, sticky and sweeet!

Get It On The Floor – DMX f. Swizz Beaks

Don’t act like you don’t dance to this.  You know you lying!  Get up and shoulder bop.

treetrunkstwerk

Choppa Style – Choppa

Flawless.  Just the perfect song.

What y’all dancing to?  Don’t you feel better?

Trashy Thursday: Some Classic Hoodrat Tunes

It’s tiem to get back into Trashy Thursday!  It’s been far too long since we’ve taken a deep dive in to some music for the basics of the world.  Let’s get started!  As per usual, this one is Not Safe For Work so watch and listen accordingly.

1) N*ggaz Ain’t Shit – Mercedes

Monkey on the dick, monkey on the dick!

Listen, as the queen of No Limit for about 2 weeks, Mercedes went on to release bomb ass song after bomb ass song.  I live for her.  This song is so relentlessly catchy, fun to sing along to, and ridiculously vulgar.  I LOVE IT.

If you’ve been paying any attention to me, I love female rap that essentially brags about how bomb she is.  As a huge proponent of faux confidence, these songs speak to me on a fundamental level.  This song is all about how wack these raggedy men are in comparison to her.  And you can’t take her beat or her bang.

“Not your average bitch,
My shit’s on balance.
Pretty face, nice ass and talent!
Never miss a challenge.”

snowwhitetwerk

2) Slob On My Cat Pt. 2 – La Chat

“Get ya knees dirty boy, Eat a bish cat or somethin!”

obama

La Chat is a goddess.  We last checked in with her in the Chickenhead video, which we all know is a classic.  But here she has the starring role and you simply can not take.  This is a play on “Slob on My Knob” which is another iconic bop.

“Bet he went home and kissed his bish on the mouth. EWW!”

She collaborated most with Three 6 Mafia & Project Pat, but there’s something great about a lady-rapper who is just aggressive.  She’s not trying to be soft despite the vulgar nature of the song.  She’s demanding sex.  And while true equality between the sexes is not just turnabout, it’s refreshing to hear a woman just make a song that says “I want sex.  Why am I not being pleasured yet?”

3) That’s My Juvie – Magnolia Shorty

“DEM HOES BET NOT FUCK WIT MY JU-VAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY!”

Now I don’t know how many of you are familiar with New Orleans Bounce Music, but what’s important is that you essentially don’t stop moving your ass when you hear it.  It’s perfect.  You might be more familiar with Homegurl which samples it.  I like both, but the original will always have a special place in my heart.

It’s dumb and repetitive.  And it’s perfect.

pandajiggle

4) One Night Stand – L’il Jon & The Eastside Boys f. Oobie

“I’m seeing me on top of you, doing things that lovers do.  But I don’t belong to you, what’s a girl supposed to do?”

I’m sure that I’ve mentioned Oobie on the blog.  I did!  This song was a trashy hoodrat anthem before “thot” ever became hot.  As I mentioned, Oobie can’t even really sing.  But her sweet, thin voice singing these trashy lyrics serve as a perfect counterpoint to L’il Jon’s uhhh…”rapping.”

But while this song encourages cheating as way to “respect” their relationships, but you know no one is looking.  It’s only for this ONE NIGHT y’all.  We won’t do it again.

The message of this song is so trashy but I fucking love this song.  It’s so dumb.

piddlin

“If you know how to keep a secret, you can get it FOR SURE.
Just make sure you get enough, cuz you can’t get it NO MORE”

5) Phatty – CCB

“Now your girlfriend’s mad cuz I got what she never had!”

So we’ve gone to New Orleans and now it’s up to DC where gogo reigns supreme.  Now my undergrad institution seemingly recruited 90% of its African-American population from this area which meant that every party gave us a gogo moment where we all beat our feet and broke a sweat.

It’s also repetitive and doesn’t require much of a singing voice, but it’s just so much fun.  Like you may be annoyed at first, but if you have any slice of rhythm, you’re going to find yourself booty popping by the second chorus.  I’ll have to do a post featuring some of my favorite go-go memories from my time in college. Best believe that this will show up.

So what are your thoughts?  Did I miss some of your favorites?  My playlist is always open.  Have a great day, y’all!

This has nothing to do with anything but never forget.

Sam Smith Plus A Class And Trash Reunion

PARTYYYIIIIIIIING!

fun

Okay, let’s focus on Sam Smith, everyone’s new favorite singer. We here at Class & Trash are definitely fans. He’s got a lovely voice and sings the kind of songs that make you cry on Sunday nights.

Here are two of the bops.

Stay With Me

Proceeds to ugly cry.  Sam’s voice is so haunting and he portrays such a sense of longing for that human connection despite looking for it in the wrong place. So freaking good.

Latch

Switches into a bop and snap.  I love songs with a distinctly 80’s influence and this is no different.  Come through.

But really this post about the reunion of Class & Trash.  Throw in our love Sass, The Asian Sensation, and Devin who frequently comments and you will hear from soon and you have the recipe for a super shady, super hilarious, and amazing weekend.  And it’s all leading up to the On The Run tour on Tuesday where you will get both of our reactions.

But we’re trying to get to brunch.  So say hey!  Reach out on the Twitter page.  You might see up dropping it low if you’re in Atlanta.

It’s Friday!

Woo it’s Friday!

This is going to be quick, but I wanted to highlight Michelle’s new song “Say Yes” with a Destiny’s Child Reunion.

This is so cute!  I love the song.  I love that you can bop to this without it coming too close to “gospel rap” which is not fun for me.

But I just had to take a moment for all the YouTube haters out there like “How can Beyonce sing a song about Jesus when she sold her soul to the devil?” and “Michelle is autotuned”.

Girl.  Good.  Bye.

There is no room for anyone to judge but God.  We’re not trying to live for your glory.  So get out of their business and mind your own heavenly journey.

Tis all.  Make it a good day!

She’s Your Queeeeeen To Be

Hey bishes! Before we get started, it’s time for a dance break.

But it came to my attention that I never wrote a post celebrating the obvious and well-deserved victory of Bianca Del Rio on RuPaul’s Drag Race!!!!

Shockandawe

Like how flopulous of me!  Let’s rectify this.

BiancaDelRio

My girl was so fabulous that there really was no other option.  She has style, comedy and performance chops, and enough musical ability not to embarrass herself.  She’s essentially the first queen to truly come ready to play the game and do it well.

And because I’m a lucky ho, I got to see her last night!

image_15

Seen here with Trinity K. Bonet!

So last night, I went to trivia with a good friend and sent a text to someone I met last weekend.  Turns out he was at the same place!  So he invites me to meet him at Bianca’s show.  I, for some reason, didn’t realize she’d be here so I ran home, changed, and got my ass to the show!

The venue was okay although my lack of height really bit me in the butt as you can see from the blurry photos.  But she was hilarious.  Reading people for filth in glamorous gowns.  I cracked up when she told Phoenix (who hosted) that this was a show for winners only.  “Just because you have a mic, doesn’t mean you have the floor!”

There were several other queens there including Mariah who performed to Vanity 6’s Nasty Girl thus winning a permanent place in my heart.

Here’s are a few more pictures of Bianca and the other queens.

Needless to say, it was a fun night (although my body is le tired) and I would totally go see her again.

A Tribute: Adina Howard

Trashy Thursday! Aww yeah, get it get it!

getitgif

So it’s time to pay genuine homage to a woman who helped shape my world view and my life goals.

adina1adina2adina3

Come on, Queen!

I can’t even begin to tell you how much I live for this woman.  Her epic jams are my life.  Let’s talk about three of my favorite anthems by this queen.

1) Freak Like Me

yas

I had to stop dancing and put the video on mute in order to list out the fabulous things about this video.

a) Her hair slays.  Just early 90′ s slayage.

b) Her sassy hoop earrings.

c) Her fishnet stockings.

d) Her gold sheet sets.

e) Her popped collar blowing in the breeze.

f) Adina body rolling on the bed snatching wigs.

g) The heart embossed on the back of her leather shorts.

h) Dropping it low in the water.

We haven’t even discussed how flawless the song is.  Like Adina is the hoodrat R&B prototype.  The “So we can PUMP PUMP!” is so damn catchy.  Her ad-libs are fun.  It’s just a great song.  One you want to listen to all the time. Slay bish!

2) T-Shirt & Panties

bowdown

Like hood love does not get any better.  What do you have on right now?  This is the soundtrack to so many chat line voice mails.  Hope you got your cucumber melon on!

3) Nasty Grind

Adina is on her grown woman!  This was all up on BET Uncut.  But if you don’t body roll and get into her afro! I’m going to find a bae and grind up on em’!

I suggest you do the same.  Catch y’all on my 4-day weekend!

Class And Trash Jams: Beyoncé

It’s time to announce a new series here on your favorite site.  So because we’re committed to increasing the quality of your iPods, we’ve decided to share a few of our favorite jams for a particular artist each week.

Because Class picked the artist for this first week, it’s time to talk about Beyoncé.

Trash

1) Yoncé/Partition

Despite my next two choices, I love Beyoncé most when she embraces her hood side.  This song in particular changed my entire view on Beyoncé,  moving me from casual fan to staunch defender/junior associate Beyhive member.  The rap >>>>>>

2) Smash Into You

My absolute favorite of Beyoncé’s love songs. She delivers vocally and it’s simply a beautiful song.

3) Love On Top

5 KEY CHANGES.  FIVE!  Love the throwback to the Motown era, love her vocal layering. Did I mention the five key changes??

Class

If you don’t know…I am a PROUD BeyHive Member. 1- 9….EIGHT. ONE!

Beyonce’s catalogue is LITERALLY flawless. Her missteps are still better than mosts (yup B’Day may not have been my favorite but if you don’t think that stops me from listening, you’re WRONG.) What makes Bey better is that her live performance are FAR better than her recorded works. This is a HUGE statement considering her albums are perfect. Picking my three favorite songs might be one of the hardest challenges for me. So i’m only considering live performances. Wish me luck.

1) 1+1 (Dressing Room Edition)

My. God. A keyboard. Beyonce’s Golden Vocals. Harmonies by the Mamas. ANY QUESTIONS?!

2) End Of Time (Revel Edition)

The. End. Of. Time. STOMP! The sickening pink pumps. I am unable.

This song instantly stood out to me on her classic 4 album. It is a perfect dancing song, running song, cooking song, cleaning song, do better in life song, etc. It is perfection and Beyonce ALWAYS gives it her 300%. I dare you to not stomp and body roll up….DARE YOU.

3) Resentment (Live from Las Vegas Edition)

DO YOU HEAR HER RAT B*TCH RIHANNA?!?! GO IN BEY! SHE AIN’T EVEN HALF OF ME!!!!!!!!! YASSSSSSSS!

The passion Beyonce performed this with is INCREDIBLE. I don’t know who pissed her off that day but the result is incredible. Also…Why are the Mamas so sickening? I hate and love them.

And a special treat!

Never forget where it all began. Destiny’s Child. I stumbled across this gem and thought i’d share. Please enjoy them stomping the f*ck out of the football field. I miss DC3.
