Hey guys! It’s time to talk about Season 6 of Drag Race! The second premiere edition! Did you miss our first recap? Check it out here.
So let’s just get this out of the way. This set of queens was WAAAAAAY better than the first group. While the episode itself was a bit repetitive (the first episode is always a photo challenge and a themed-sewing challenge), this group of queens brought it. Ru had the girls do a pillow-fight themed photo shoot with the Pit Crew (hey boos!) and then a party-themed box challenge (Luau, Toga, Quinceanera, Princess, St. Patrick’s Day, Hoedown, and Republican). Let’s go doll by doll.
Bianca Del Rio
LUV. HUH. We both love a bitch who can read and being an insult comic, Bianca Del Rio fits the bill. I like that she’s confident and has clearly studied the show before coming on. Her makeup is intense, but it is definitely her style. Class loves the eyes but isn’t sure how far she will go. Trash loved her luau dress even though you can tell she’s whipped that dress out before. It seems to be her signature silhouette from my research online.
It will up to her to show that she be versatile outside of her lashes.
LUV HUH TOO! Trash doesn’t typically care about the fishiness of a queen, but homegirl is stunning in drag. We both thought her photo was easily the best and she’s definitely got some tricks up her sleeve. Any friend of Willam’s is a friend of mine. That said, her republican look was a bit blah so she’s going to have to step it up and really impress the judges. Class loved everything she did and has already said that she’s the winner.
I think she’s a lock for top 5.
Miss Darienne Lake
See Trash is living for Miss Thang’s personality. I thought that after Bianca, she gave the best talking heads (I’m Darienne Lake, I’m 21, and I’m a compulsive liar!)
That kind of wit will get her far especially since her drag seems to be polished. That said, her Luck of the Irish look was really bad. Class called her runway Lane Bryant and wasn’t feeling her at all. The center ruching was not the business at all and the top was throwaway. Trash thought that she would be better here, but her lip sync was aces. I feel like once she gets into the thick of the show, she is going to shine.
Lort. This one is a bit dim. She’s super gorgeous but she’s a bit out of her depth here. Her 51 and black horse comments were just…
I thought her look wasn’t good but wasn’t bad. It was definitely drag enough though so we’ll see if she can pick it up.
She’s got an aesthetic though and RuPaul does love a young queen who can pick it up and run with it, but Joslyn may be a little too umm…slow to pick up on that. Class found her a bit dull and thinks she needs to stand out.
Ugh…this one. Trash feels like she could have actually done well on the show if she wasn’t so obnoxious. Class was over her from the moment she walked in. Her look is strange, but unique enough. She had some funny lines. (I’m Magnolia Crawford, and I’m Seattle’s sexiest drag queen! (I’m not sexy) I’m Seattle’s funniest drag queen (I’m not funny)).
Just…that dress, that attitude, and that walk. Good bye and good riddance. Even when Trash watched the Whatcha Packin’ with Michelle, she comes across as bitter and unpleasant. She can go hang out with Serena ChaCha and Penny Tration at the bottom of the barrel.
Milk, The Dairy Queen
Let’s just get this out of the way….
#heyboo #HEYBOO #HEY #BOO #HEEEEEYBOOHEEEEEEY
Okay, now that I’ve said that. I LOOOOOVE MILK. I think that she’s one of the few queens that has quirk going for her. I thought her intro look was genius in that she was gorgeous and hilarious at the same time. I didn’t love the beard on the runway, but I thought that the flow of the garment plus the fact that she’s so damn tall worked well for her. The edit on her critique was a mess though. You’re better than that, show. Class was not here for her at all.
I don’t know how deep Milk will go, but as long as he stays cute and stays campy, I think she can go far.
Trinity K. Bonet
I was not here for her at all. Her intro look was blah, her winning photo was just okay, her voice is grating, and those teeth? NO GAWD. When she was awwkardly standing there with Bianca, I just wanted her to go.
But you know what, she turned it on the runway showing a creativity that I didn’t think she was capable of and during Untucked, she came off really thoughtful and smart. I can’t say that she’s a favorite yet, but I’m way more interested in her skills than I thought I’d be. Class wants to like her more (similar to Adore from last week).
So the judges loved Trinity (minus the cheesy neckpiece), Milk (even with the beard) and Bianca, who snatched the win. Joslyn and Courtney were called safe with messages to edit and “stop relying on that body!” Miss Darienne and Magnolia were up for elimination to “Turn The Beat Around.” Magnolia sucked. Darienne was a lit wobbly but really stole the show. She stayed and it was time for Magnolia and her nose to go.
We look forward to the merging of the queens next week and can’t wait to see how this season unfolds. What are you thoughts on the episode? Catch it here at Logotv.com! Who do think will make it to the Final 3? Let us know in the comments or on the Twitter machine (@ClassNTrashShow).
